Using a Computer? Upload Photos From Your Phone and Save Videos to It With a QR Code
How to use your phone with Step Into the Scene on a computer: scan a QR code to upload a photo from your phone, and scan another to save the finished AI video to your phone gallery.
Short answer: most of your photos are on your phone, and most videos end up posted from your phone. So when you make a video on a computer, two QR codes connect the two. Scan the first, next to the photo box, to upload a photo straight from your phone. Scan the second, next to the finished video, to open the video on your phone and save it to your gallery. No cables, no emailing files to yourself, no app to install.
Try it with the AI rap video template →
1. Upload a photo from your phone
- On your computer, open any template, for example Hit the Road Dude or the AI talking pet.
- Under the photo box, click "Photo on your phone? Upload it from your phone". A QR code appears.
- Point your phone camera at the QR code and tap the link.
- On your phone, tap Choose photo and pick the picture (or take one).
- Your computer shows the photo a few seconds later. Pick a quality and generate as usual.
The link works once and expires after 15 minutes. The photo goes through the same automatic safety check as a normal upload, and it is sent only to the computer that showed the QR code.
2. Save the finished video to your phone
When your video is ready on the computer, a second QR code appears next to it: "Save it on your phone".
- iPhone: scan the QR code, tap Save video, then choose Save Video in the share sheet. It goes to Photos.
- Android: scan the QR code and tap Save video. Depending on your browser it is saved to Downloads or offered in the share menu; pick Gallery or Photos.
If your browser doesn't offer either, the video opens in a new tab: press and hold it (or use Share) to save it.
The link points to your own video only and expires with it: after 3 days for videos made without an account.
Why we built this
TikTok, Reels and Shorts are posted from phones, but plenty of people browse and pay on a laptop. Moving files between the two was the most common question we got. Now it takes two scans.
FAQ
Do I need an account? No. It works for guest purchases too.
Is it safe to scan? The QR code only contains a link to stepintoscene.com with a random one-time code. Anyone who scans your upload QR could send a photo to your screen for 15 minutes, so don't share a screenshot of it.
Can I upload from a computer instead? Yes, the normal upload box still works. The QR codes are only shown on computers; on a phone you upload directly.
What about saved characters? If you save your pet or yourself as a character after a video, you can pick it next time on any device without uploading again.
